Skyline Honey Locust (Gleditsia triacanthos var. inermis ‘Skyline’)

A popular lawn and street tree in the Midwest.  Has a graceful habit and fine textured leaves.  This variety is thorn-less and seedless.  The dappled sunlight that shines through the canopy allows for grass or plants to grow beneath, with minimal leaf litter to rake in the fall.

Mature Height: 40′-50′

Mature Spread: 30′-35′

Zone: 4

Sunlight: Full sun

Soil Preference: Tolerant to a wide variety of soils, can handle dry or poor soils.

Nurseryman’s Notes: A native cultivar, with fine green leaves.  Moderate fast growth rate (12″ to 24″ per year) with yellow to golden fall color. Few pest or disease problems and tolerant of tough planting sites.  The filtered sunlight this variety offers is great for areas you’d like to plant with partial shade loving plants or garden areas you’d like to give a break from direct sunlight.  The fine textured leaves make for easy clean-up in the fall!
