Newport Flowering Plum (Prunus cerasifera ‘Newport’)

This small, white-flowered tree has been used near gardens and around homes for many years.  Flowers are profuse and usually emerge in April.  Summer foliage is reddish, purple and eye catching.

Mature Height: 15′-20′

Mature Spread: 15′-20′

Zone: 4

Sunlight: Full sun

Soil Preference: Tolerant to a wide variety of soils

Nurseryman’s Notes: Great tree for front yards, smaller lawns or under power lines.  Two season interest, with showy white flowers with a blush of pink in spring and deep, purple foliage throughout the summer months.  Does not tend to like soils that are too wet.
