Tulip Tree (Liriodendron tulipifera)

The state tree of Indiana and a native fast grower.  A large, pyramidal tree with yellow tulip-like flowers in late May.  Foliage is a golden yellow in fall.

Mature Height: 60′-70′

Mature Spread: 35′-40′

Zone: 4

Sunlight: Full sun

Soil Preference: Tolerant to a wide variety of soils, but prefers loamy, moist, well drained soils.

Nurseryman’s Notes: A beautiful, stately, shade tree.  Fast growing (12″ to 24″+ per year) with yellow to golden fall color. Few pest or disease problems and tolerant of tough, clay soils or wetter soils.  “Cat claw” leaf shape make this a unique tree everyone should plant!
